How we got here today …

Back in February 2020, I wrote The Modern AI Marketer, a small book that briefly covered AI’s history, types, and ways it could help marketers. Nothing big.

Then, on November 30, 2022, ChatGPT exploded, reaching 1 million users in just five days. Suddenly, AI LLMs were everywhere, tackling various marketing tasks.

Yet, many marketers I’ve spoken with still aren’t sure how AI fits into their work or how they can leverage it into their everyday work. Some use it to find answers, brainstorm, or create content, but there’s so much more AI can do.

Many use AI to find answers, ideate, craft strategies, and create content or images.

What else can you do with AI? How can you prompt better to get the most out of AI?

That’s when I decided to dust off my old book and create a new version, The Modern AI Marketer in the GPT Era.

My goal was simple: to provide a focused guide that marketers and sales professionals could actually use without being overwhelmed.

A quick tidbit: Originally, I envisioned having  AI do the complete rewrite. And I don’t even mind giving AI credit.

What I’ve learned from asking AI to write a 100-page book was that AI just pulled sentences from different sources to fill in the blanks in my outlines.

The paragraphs and sentences from AI are flowery without substance. Trust me, I tried.

So, I took control and rewrote the whole thing, packing it with only the essentials.

The result is a book that you can read or skim while multitasking—watching Netflix, for example. I’ve also added insights from my recent AI talks to keep the content fresh.

And when beta readers asked for more prompts, I created a companion book, The Modern AI Marketer: Prompt Guide.
